SOCKAPALOOOZA BABY!

so, what i didn't want to write about my sockapaloooza socks was that they were going SUPER fast. amazingly fast! someone cast a spell on my hands fast. don't talk about it so you don't jinx yourself and need to rip them completely out fast. :)

i got far the night i started them, remember? that was just one nights work. i dreaded the 'forethought' heel (version of the afterthought heel, but done before the sock is done), but it was surprisingly easy, even with my pregtard brain. the foot went amazingly fast, as did the toe. in fact, i mucked up the toes (that pesky counting thing, two (opposite) sides had 18 sts, one 19, one 20...) so i ripped and STILL had them done in record time. the only thing about the forethought (or afterthought) heels is that you automatically get two more ends to weave in. which is crappy but not terrible. i measured them a few billion times. my sock pal has feet that are smaller than mine, i hope they fit. they measure correctly, so i hope they do!!!

and here they are!!!

sockapalOOOza knitalong!

regia cotton tip & top color - color 4081

pattern is the ridged feather pattern from sensational knitted socks it's one of the chevron patterns for self striping yarn.

truthfully, (i'm sorry sock pal!) i dreaded knitting these socks. i am just so tired with work and being pregnant... but they were awesome! i have never knit with self striping yarn before and i loved watching the color progressions! the forethought heels were cool becasue they didn't mess up the color stripes on the front of the sock at all, and they were alot more easy than i expected. they went SO amazingly fast and i'm done over two weeks early!!! wtf, seriously??? :)

i did short cuffs being that we are shipping may 1st, thought i'd make some summer socks for my pal! they are regia cotton, so 41% superwash wool, 34% cotton, 25% polyamid. hopefully they are more summery than a full wool pair!

shipping in two weeks, i hope she likes them and they fit!!!

oh, they look great. I'm really intrigued by the "forethought" heel... is that in the pattern or did you make it up yourself? Cuz I love the idea of the afterthought heel, but I cannot graft to save my life...

Hi there, I just found your blog on google and have been enjoying wandering around. You do beautiful work. I know this post was from awhile ago, but I actually found your blog by looking for posts on the ridged feather pattern from Sensational Knitted Socks. I'm about to get started on a pair, and the cast-on is holding me back. I don't think I like the idea of the garter cast-on and notice you did a stockinette cast-on? Is that right? I really like the way yours looks. Did you like the way that worked up?
